Though Scrivener is great, it's complex and VERY outdated! As such, I've been looking for an alternative to Scrivener for quite some time. LivingWriter is the best alternative I've tried, and re-tried multiple times since I first discovered it in 2023. It's beautifully designed, simple to use, has a great plot board and story elements... plus I can write ANYWHERE as it's always synced.
It even has this sharing feature, which differs from what you're used to, but the nice thing is you can literally see things change if I'm writing while you're looking, plus you'll ALWAYS be reading the latest version AND you are welcome to make editorial notes. UPDATE: Turns out making editorial notes is only available to those I invite directly as an editor to the chapter, not on the share link I post for the reader.
I'm not sure if this will become a standard feature, so if you would like it to become standard, let me know. During this test, it's only available to paid members.
UPDATE: Now that the Aliens and Cowboys series is now published. I have switched to using LivingWriter full-time. Click the link below to access the latest work-in-progress in the Living Writer viewer.
